Everton 2-4 Man Utd
Chelsea 2-2 Bolton
The past weekend just emphasized the fact that the English Premier League is the most entertaining league in the world. It was also the weekend where Chelsea practically handed the title to the red devils. Kudos to the English FA for setting the same kick off times for both Chelsea and man united matches. For a football fan in general, it provided the perfect, finger-on-remote, channel-changing experience that we all crave for. After 90 pulsating minutes, we had been treated to a roller coaster of emotions and scenarios which ended with advantage to Man Utd. This is how it went down.
7:30pm (Singapore Time)
Chelsea rests a few starters for the midweek Champions League Semi Final with Liverpool. Joe Cole, Lampard and Drogba were on the bench.
Likewise, Sir Alex Ferguson benched recently crown PFA Player and Young Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo. A slight Injury was stated as the reason but 18YB feels Sir Alex is resting him for Milan.

Kick off from Goodison Park & Stamford Bridge

Goodison Park goes wild when veteran Alan Stubbs, delivered home a cracking 30-yard free-kick, via a deflection off Michael Carrick. Large cheers at Stamford Bridge as news arrive. Everton 1-0 Man Utd

Stamford Bridge was silenced and Man Utd worries decreased as debutant Bolton central defender, Lubor Michalik fires in from close range at the end of a free kick from Iranian, Andranik Teymourian. Panic and messy defending by the Chelsea backline as the ball dropped to Michalik for his first goal for Bolton.
Chelsea 0-1 Bolton. The title race is back to square one.

Like true great teams, Chelsea hit back immediately when Wayne Bridge provided a sweet cross from the left wing for an unmarked Salomon Kalou to head home Chelsea's equaliser. As they say in football, a team is most vulnerable when they have just taken a lead.

Carvalho is suffers a recurrence of his hamstring injury and is replaced by Lampard. Essien moves to the heart of the defence alongside Terry.
33.21 mins
Stamford Bridge erupts as Chelsea surge into the lead in the most fortuitous manner. An inswinging corner from Lampard was met by Kalou once again. His header was cleared off the line onto the crossbar by a Bolton defender on the line. The ball dropped down and hit the knee of Jaaskelainen and into to the goal. Advantage Chelsea

Chelsea 2-1 Bolton
Chelsea was incessant with their pressure on the Bolton's goal. Chelsea controlled throughout the half and had more shots on goal than their Bolton counterparts (6-2). A deserved lead at the break
Everton 1-0 Man Utd
18YB noticed that Man Utd were not creating clear cut chances and were not in their usual flow. This raises questions on whether Man Utd is now dependant on Ronaldo.Ronaldo brings dynamism into United's play with his running against defender. Not only does this terrorise defenders, it also opens up space for his other team mates by drawing defenders to him. Without him on the pitch, United looked rigid and lacked penetration. Saying that, credit to Everton for defending stoutly in the first half. Another thing missing from United's play was the rotation of positions. In previous games, what we would see are the switching or rotation of positions between Rooney, Giggs and Ronaldo. They seem to have free roles in during attacking. This is the reason Man United has shown good attacking flow this season. In the first half, Man Utd was very 'fixed'. Rooney was on the left which will never work while Solksjaer on the right. He wasn’t effective either due to his lack of pace there.

Bad went to worse for Man Utd 5 mins into the 2nd half as Fabrice Fernandes, on loan from Benfica sent a cracker into the back of Edwin Van der Sar's net.

A defensive lapse in concentration from makeshift central defender, Essien allowed Kevin Davies to rise unmarked from close range and head home Bolton's equaliser from a freekick by Idan Tal. Replays showed that Davies was Essien's man. Poor defending costing Chelsea again.

The 30 Minute Comeback
60.32 mins
It all started from a blunder by Iain Turner, who was called back from his loan spell to play in the game. Regular keeper Tim Howard was ineligible to play due to his January transfer from Man Utd. 18YB questions why Richard Wright (more experienced) wasn’t called for duty. A routine cross from a corner by Giggs was dropped by Turner. The ball dropped nicely for O'Shea to stab the ball home.Sir Alex then brought on Ronaldo for Alan Smith. Game on.
Everton 2-1 Man Utd
67.25 mins
Everton were in sixes and sevens at the back at this time and when a Carrick corner was met by Cristiano Ronaldo but found Turner parrying it away. The ball bobbled around in front of the goal before in an attempt to clear; Phil Neville, Man Utd old-boy, trashed it into his own goal with a swipe of his weaker left foot. Man Utd equalised.

A third blunder by Everton's defence led to Man Utd's third goal. Tony Hibbert didn’t read the Carragher's Guidebook when from deep inside his right back position tried to play his team out of the defence. He made it worse by passing it straight to Ronaldo. Carragher of course would simply boot it away. Ronaldo gave it to O'Shea who crosses it into the box. The cross flicked by Carsley found Rooney in the box. So many times with Rooney; when he is good, he is that damn good. He showed it here by selling the defender before slotting it home. Stamford Bridge couldnt believe it. Advantage Man Utd.

The rout was completed by Man Utd youngster, Chris Eagles, previously loaned to Watford; when latched upon Rooney's through pass and curled it into the bottom corner. Comeback completed in style. Over at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea were piling on the pressure to find the winner

A weekend where Chelsea choked and while Lady Luck smiled widely upon the men from the Theatre of Dreams. 5 points gap 3 games to go. Even the most passionate of Chelsea fans can’t help to ignore the fact that their title is slipping away. Even Mourinho says the title is 'almost' out of their grasp. Thinking rationally, Man Utd has the easier run in. Excluding their match with each other, Man United has Man City away and West Ham at home. Man City is rubbish at home at home this season with only 10 goals scored in 17 matches. In addition, 18YB don't see how Man Utd can slip at Fulham at home in the last game of the season. They would want to give their fans a fitting end to their great season. On the other hand, Chelsea will be facing Arsenal at the Emirates and Everton at home. Two tough games for them especially now where victory is a must. They have dropped 4 out of the past 6 points which is worrying for the standards of Chelsea. It could be due to the pressure of chasing, a role they did not act out in the past two seasons. Man United just need at least 4 points from their remaining 9 and the trophy is coming back to Old Trafford. Looking at the celebration after the match against Everton, 18YB believes Sir Alex feels he has the trophy all sewn up already.
Heres a video dedicated to Iain Turner, Phil Neville, Hibbert and Mourinho. What have u done guys.
