Another tight one...

The Portugese league goes into the final weekend with the title still in the sights of 3 clubs. Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica are still in with a shout to become Portugese champions. Here is how the table looks like at the moment.

1. Porto................+42 66pts
2. Sporting Lisbon......+35 65pts
3. Benfica..............+33 64pts

It is very close at the top with 2 points separating all 3 teams. The top 2 spots gains automatic qualification for the Champs Lge grp stages while the third placed team will go into the Chmps Lge qualifying round.

Last weekend fixtures
Benfica v Académica de Coimbra
FC Porto v Deportivo Aves
Sporting Lisbon v Belenenses

Sporting Lisbon has the 'hardest' match amongst the 3. They play 4th placed Belenenses who is funny enough are 15 pts behind Benfica in third. They drew 0-0 in Belenenses in the earlier encounter. But Lisbon are the form team, They are undefeated since 1st December 2006.
Porto and Benfica have routine matches against sides who are just above the relegation zone. Benfica have never lost at home this season (10-4) and will look most probably to gain 3 points against Academica. They defeated them away earlier on in the season.
Porto also defeated Deportivo Aves 2-0 earlier in the season and should have enough class to see off the relegation strugglers.

We expect all 3 top sides to win their home matches and as such, Porto will come out champions.
