Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze is close to agreeing a £5million switch to Real Madrid after reportedly flying to Spain to discuss terms.

Spurs will battle it out with Manchester United for Portuguese wonder-kid Nani after the 20 year-old declared he is desperate for a move to England.

Dimitar Berbatov will sign a new Spurs contract within the next fortnight after strike partner Robbie Keane penned a fresh £10million deal on Monday. Berbatov has been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool after a sparkling first season in the Premiership.

Rafael Benitez will test the resolve of Liverpool's new owners this week with a £10million bid for France winger Florent Malouda. As well as the Lyon ace Benitez wants Sevilla wing-back Daniel Alves and Real Zaragoza central defender Gabriel Milito.

Middlesbrough will swoop for Fulham midfielder Michael Brown if they fail to land Joey Barton from Manchester City.

Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce is close to making Bolton defender Tal Ben Haim his first signing on Tyneside.

Aston Villa set for a double swoop of Bellamy and Kewell.
