Uefa Cup Spots

Due to the fact that the FA Cup Final will be contested by the top 2 sides in the league, the sides occupying the 5th, 6th and 7th place in the table would qualify for the Uefa Cup.

Explanation
Normally , the 5th, 6th and winner of the FA Cup winner will qualify for the Uefa Cup. If the final is contested by a Chmp Lge(top 4) side and a side outside of the top 6 (eg. 9th placed side), the Uefa Cup spot will be given to the 9th placed side. This was the case last season for West Ham who was the losing finalist in the FA Cup Final against Liverpool. For this season, the top 2 is in the final. As such an extra spot has been opened up for the 7th placed side.

This extra spot goes to Bolton; whose 2-2 draw with Aston Villa which moved them a point above Reading for the final Uefa Cup place. Reading failed to win at Ewood Park after a 3-3 draw. That 3-3 draw and Portsmouth's inability to find the winning goal against Arsenal handed the other two spots to Tottenham and Everton.
