Liverpool clinched third place after a nervous 2-2 draw at Anfield against relegated Charlton. Liverpool had to come back from behind twice in the game. Kewell's 89 min penalty saved them the blushes of losing thier last game of the season. Arsenal did not managed to take advantage of Liverpool's slip. They drew with prostmouth 0-0 at Fratton Park. Baptista saw his penalty saved by David James in the 40th min.
The 2 results means that Arsenal will start their Chmps Lge campaign early in the 2nd qualifying round while Liverpool will enter in the 3rd round. The early start could be good or bad for the team. An early start could mean that the team could have had their engines warmed up for the start of the league season. New signings could also have more matches to gel in with their new team mates. On the other hand, an early start could result in the players tiring out at the end of the season. Less rest after the end of this season could also play a part in terms of injuries and lethargy.
