Harewood not wanted by Hammers

Marlon Harewood is looking forward to a fresh challenge after being told he can leave West Ham. The 27-year-old striker has confirmed he will leave Upton Park this summer after an end-of season meeting with manager Alan Curbishley.

He said: "I think it's time for me to leave West Ham. I've had four good years at the club but now it's time for me to find a new challenge. I've had a chat with the new manager and he obviously wants to bring his own players in, it happens everywhere."

Portsmouth, Wigan and Man city are interested in the 4 million pound rated striker.

Meanwhile, skipper Reo Coker is close to joining Villa. The Daily Express says Villa held talks with West Ham over the weekend regarding a fee. Newcastle is also tracking the midfielder.
