Boro aims top 6 spot

We had to read that headline twice before we present it to you here. Yes, the Middlesbrough chief executive Keith Lamb reckoned they can break into the top 6 in the league. Factually, Boro has only finished twice in the top half throughout the history of the premiership.

Keith Lamb says, "Gareth, Malcolm Crosby, Colin Cooper and the rest of Gareth's coaching team are ambitious. They want to do well, not just for themselves, but for Middlesbrough Football Club. Why can't we break the mould, why can't we break into that top six, that top four? If you say you can't you won't. But I keep repeating, why can't we? Gareth and his staff - and hopefully the players - have the same view."

18YB would like to add.....NOT...we don't share the same view

Lamb told the club's official website, www.mfc.co.uk: "We have been working hard to strengthen the squad. It's not a secret that Gareth's template for a player is slightly different to that which we have had in the past.

"Gareth wants players who are younger, who are perhaps more mobile, who have their best years in front of them and who are fiercely ambitious, not only for themselves, but as a consequence of that, for Middlesbrough Football Club.

"If we bring in players who share our ambition, then why not?"

To Boro fans, very ambitious chief u have there. We say this top 6 dream is not gonna happen any time soon. At the moment they don't even look like a top half side unless they get draw in quality this summer. They need better signings and need to remove nonsense players like Rochemback or free tackling Pogatetz. They need to make a team around players like Woodgate and Boateng. Keep Downing at all cost. Looking at the present team, it looks like Southgate plans to develop his youngsters. Its gonna be an interesting future for Boro fans out there. Brave words by the chief and lets hope it doesn't come back to bite him in the .
