The defender who had a torrid season with Chelsea is set to move to Spain to join Uefa Cup Champions Sevilla.
And although Chelsea splashed out almost £8.5m for the Dutch stopper, he could join Sevilla for £3.4m.
Newcastle United,Bolton Wanderers and Hamburger SV, his former club, were also previously linked with the player.
Sevilla will act quickly after all but ending negotiations with Fiorentina over their first transfer target, Thomas Ujfalusi and will hope to close the deal by early next week.
