The Singapore National Team has qualified for the third round of the World Cup Asian Zone Qualifiers. This after they dispatched Tajikistan 3-1 on aggreggate. This coming after a 2-0 win at Kallang followed by a 1-1 draw in Dushanbe. This is THE first time Singapore has qualified to such the 3rd round. So what happens next?
Basically, the team is now amongst 20 teams left on the road to South Africa. The 3rd round will see 5 groups of 4 teams. The top two of each group will then enter the final round where there will be 2 groups of 5 teams. Then, the top 2 of the groups qualify for the World Cup.
In addition, the 2 teams in third places in thier respective groups will face each other, with the winner playing against the oceanic qualifier for a berth in the World Cup.
Lets get back to the 3rd round now. The draw will be made on the 25 November in Durban. Here are how the pots line up.
